Gold Member Highlight: Tualatin Web

Tualatin Chamber Member Highlight - Tualatin Web

How did you decide to pursue the career that you are working in today?
Living in California it was 1995 and a  co-worker ran into my cubicle and excitedly started talking about something new called a web browser and that I should come and take a look at it. Once I browsed the web for the first time I could immediately see the marketing benefit of having an online presence.

What is the most important thing you want people to know about your business?
I am the person that is going to do the web work for you, and I get it done right the first time and on budget, there are no surprises.

What is an important lesson you have learned?
The web is basically un-regulated, so any company can make any claim, meaning that there are a lot of broken promises and way too much hype. Ask lots of questions and ask for references.

Who has inspired you in your life (either professionally or personally)?
My father inspired me to work hard, laugh every day and find out how things work.

What are you doing to ensure you continue to grow and develop?
I use Google search multiple times per day in my web development business to answer my questions and search out the best technical solutions to web requests that I get from my clients. I’m also a member of the Portland WordPress Meetup.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
My educational background is Electrical Engineering and out of college I worked at Intel designing DRAM chips.

What about your business keeps you up at night?
I’m concerned about the growing cyber-security issues that tend to disrupt the flow of the Internet for businesses.

What have you accomplished that you are proud of?
On the fitness side of life I cycled in the 2016 Seattle To Portland (STP) ride, covering 205.5 miles in just 9 hours and 42 minutes, or 21.4 mph average, which was 90 minutes faster than in 1980 when I was just 23 years old.

What do you perceive as the benefits you receive from Chamber membership?
Through networking with Chamber members I have found trusted vendors for automotive repair, printing, graphic design, auto insurance, home insurance and accounting. Many of these people have become my friends.
