Dear Fellow Tualatin Chamber of Commerce Members,
MITCH Charter School is a small, vibrant public school in the Tigard Tualatin School District. We serve kindergarten through 8th grade by partnering with families to create a positive, supportive community dedicated to every child’s success. Our class sizes are small, but our education is expansive!
We teach a rigorous liberal arts program in literature and language arts, history and geography, mathematics and science, art and music – purposefully integrated and sequenced from year-to-year. We are serious about multi-sensory and hands-on teaching in the classroom, and through our focus on sustainable, urban agriculture.
We know that a broad base of knowledge supported by strength of character and self-discipline will help our students thrive in life, and will also prepare them to effectively lead and serve our community and our world.
This past spring, our students partnered with Neighbors Nourishing Communities (NNC), a local non-profit organization dedicated to bringing fresh produce to local food banks. The students grew plant starts from seeds donated by NNC. The students presented the plant starts to members of our community to grow their own food and donate to local food banks. Our students benefited from this project in these ways:
* Application of agricultural lessons to real life
* Engagement in the community and social responsibility
* Environmental sustainability
Today, we’re launching our first school board fundraiser. Our goal is to raise $5,000 to develop the Frontier garden further and to provide better IT infrastructure for our students to access online educational resources. Currently, our students do not have adequate access to crucial online tools and technology.
