Tell me about how your business got started. Exponential Functions

In 2010 while finishing up her MBA in Leadership at George Fox University, Julie Sies was at a cross roads. The non-profit she had spent years with as the VP of Marketing and Sales was going bankrupt, which meant Julie needed to find a new position with her recently completed Masters or put her education to work in another way –for herself.
It was about that time when Julie was introduced to the Transformation Leadership Group. With Leadership as her educational focus, this group immediately appealed to her interests. In fact, it was such a unique and impressive approach to leadership in a remarkably easy-to-follow structure – Julie was hooked.
After years of working in the non-profit sector, it was clear to Julie that she did not want to continue down that path. It was also becoming more and more apparent that she needed to have flexibility in her life to maintain a healthy work-life balance for her family, and that meant starting her own business. The Transformational Leadership Group, founded by Ford Taylor, was the spark that Julie needed to develop her own business, coaching other business owners, executives and non-profits to lead “from the center of who they are”, not from a cookie-cutter template of who they think they should be.
“I realized that I had been leading my entire career… and I was standing in the way of my own success,” Julie says about her 30-year resume in management and leadership. “I realized that I was the problem. I had a long way to go, and (Transformation Leadership) gave me a pathway forward.”
Starting with a management company, Julie continued to evolve her business and her technique. It was after she created a consulting business on the side that her coaching career truly began to blossom. She learned how to conduct successful events, gained clients both locally and internationally within the Transformational Leadership group, and eventually bought out the franchise affiliates so that she could begin charting her own course for success through the program.
With an MBA in leadership, Coaching and Trainer Certifications from Transformational Leadership, an ICF Certification, and over 30 years of leadership experience, Julie Sies sets the bar for business coaches everywhere. Her company, Exponential Functions, is highly regarded both internationally and locally amongst our business community.

What problem does your product or service solve?

Exponential Functions is here to help individuals and organizations move past their personal and professional constraints. Personal obstacles could stem from a lack of knowledge, mindset, or behavior. Within an organization, it stems from ineffective leadership, processes, policies, systems, or procedures. Exponential Functions’ process works to uncover what is standing in the way of success to put you on a path of sustainable growth.
“The concept of exponential functions is that you do one thing that gets multiplied,” Julie explains. “In leadership and development, it’s about making small changes every day, then all the sudden you have positive mass momentum.”

What is your business philosophy?

“We all have gifts and talents that are amazing,” Julie continues, “My joy is to help people discover and contribute at their highest level possible.”
