Tell me about how your business got started.

Chrysalis HR was sparked by a dream and made into reality in November of 2018. This is when Donna Capodacqua made the decision to exit the corporate world and begin a new career path rooted in her passion for helping others. For 20 years Donna had been working in HR, gaining a wealth of knowledge and experience that would eventually lead her to create her own business. As a powerhouse of Human Resources and Business Operations expertise, she made the decision to launch Chrysalis HR, and begin her new career as an entrepreneur, focused on driving measurable success for our area’s businesses.
Donna began serving the businesses in Tualatin with a focus on practical solutions for building infrastructure and inspiring workforce productivity. She has helped many of our local businesses navigate the intricacies of employment law, working to ensure their complete compliance, and therefore protection, from potential legalities.
After two years of running her successful HR practice, Donna then decided to up the ante and begin to explore another facet of her career goals. This meant growing the business beyond herself and partnering with other professionals to develop a new level of service. This shift evolved Chrysalis HR into an all-encompassing Business Coaching firm, now called Chrysalis Partners, LLC.
“When I was doing HR consulting, a lot of it was prescriptive. I would come in and tell you what to do,” Donna explains. “As a (business) Coach, I come along side of you and ask you questions to get at –what is it that you want? What do you want to achieve, and what are the best ways to get you there?”
When asked about her approach to new clients, Donna says, “I’ve got the tools and the processes to help you… and keep you encouraged and accountable to yourself.”

What problem does your product or service solve?

“I help organizations to get healthy, and grow, and to meet the CEO or business owners’ goals,” Donna says about the purpose behind Chrysalis Partners’ Coaching. “I help people figure out what are their top 3 priorities in any given year or quarter. We figure out what is going to move the needle most for your business, get those things done, and move on to the next three.”
Chrysalis Partners is a full-service Business Coaching agency, delivering insight and expertise, tailored to the individual needs of a business and its people. It is through this method that Donna and her team can literally transform businesses into better, more focused organizations.

What is your business philosophy?

“My business philosophy is this,” Donna says, “You can be anything you want to be. You are always able to grow. You are always able to transform, and I have the processes and methods and tools to help you to do that.”
When asked how she helps to coach her clients, Donna refers to a “Rocks and Sand” analogy presented by one of her Gravitas Impact Coaches, Michael Sync. “You’ve got your rocks, which are the major things the business needs to do,” she says, “and you’ve got your sand, which is what the organization is doing currently to make money. You still got to have the sand to fill in the holes, but the rocks are going to take up more room and get you farther to filling up that hole.”
Donna and her team aren’t contractors by trade, but they do know how to build a business, and more importantly, how to build a business up – which is what Chrysalis Partners, LLC is all about.

How does your business give back to the community?

Donna volunteers in our community in a number of ways, including serving on the Board of Directors for the MITCH Charter School in Tualatin. She is extremely active in multiple programs with the Tualatin Chamber, and also works with several charities in the area to support community services and initiatives.

If you could say one thing to the people of Tualatin, what would it be?
“Let’s really make sure that through these challenges we face that we are inclusive, and become even more inclusive, and mindful.”
“Look outward for ways to support your community and each other,” encourages Donna. “It doesn’t take a lot of time, it might just mean checking on your neighbor, or someone who just needs a smile and a virtual hug.”
