The Tualatin City Council has adopted a policy for outdoor smoke and tobacco free City spaces. Public health, reducing youth smoking, fire safety, maintenance reduction and environmental harm are some of the reasons for a adopting this policy.

Use of tobacco (smoke and chew) and inhalant delivery systems (vapor) will be prohibited on all City owned or managed property, such as parks, trails, the Tualatin Commons, core-area parking lots, the library plaza and sidewalks adjacent to City property.

The City Council took action on this issue at the request of Tualatin Together whose goal is to bring community leaders together to plan for drug and alcohol prevention for youth. Implementation is scheduled for May 31, 2016.

Further information regarding implementation will be posted on the City website www.tualatinoregon.gov/communityservices/smoke-free-city-spaces-policy. Check back for more updates!
