Volunteer Highlight – Jacob Hartough, TwinStar Credit Union

How did you decide to pursue the career that you are working in today?

Really helping business members is my first priority.  It’s not a sales job, I’m genuinely interested in offering solutions to business problems and helping our members save money and reduce stress.

Few things matter more than the relationships we keep.  I believe this is as important in our careers, in which we spend the majority of our time, as any other segment of our lives.

My wife, my mother, and my supervisor, Corinn Wohl.  My wife reminds me what’s most important in life.  She keeps me on track and embodies the virtues that I strive to maintain.  My mother illuminates compassion and shows me all that’s good in the world.  My boss, Corinn, is the walking definition of exemplary leadership.

I have always enjoyed learning and these days it’s easier than ever before to grow and develop with YouTube, audiobooks, podcasts, greater access to mentors, etc.  I utilize all of these avenues consistently for personal and professional growth in addition to making sure that I step out of my comfort zone whenever an opportunity of value arises.

What would people be surprised to learn about you?
I’m a huge automotive enthusiast and have a personal goal to get into wheel-to-wheel track racing.

What about your business keeps you up at night?
Nothing.  My career with TwinStar keeps my stress levels down and my conscience healthy.  When I’m done for the day, my focus is on my family.

What have you accomplished that you are proud of?
The professional relationships that have become friendships.  I used to chase sales goals and distinction in my previous careers, but those accomplishments and the heights that came with them were only temporary.  Today, my focus is on more substantial goals.  Fortunately, I’ve found a career that supports that.

What do you perceive as the benefits you receive from Chamber membership?
The benefits are many.  My top three are: relationships, assistance growing brand awareness for TwinStar Credit Union, and ongoing education.
