The Foundation for Tigard Tualatin Schools invites you to submit a proposal to teach a class for the fall, spring and summer 2018-19 sessions of our SEED Enrichment Program, Classes are on Sunday afternoons – Oct. 14-Nov. 18, Feb. 10-Mar. 17 and M-F July 15-19. Instructors do not need to be certified school teachers.
SEED is a series of moderately priced enrichment classes offered to students throughout the area, regardless of how or where they receive their education. Classes are academically challenging with an emphasis on inquiry-based learning primarily for students enrolled in grades 3-8 interested in specialized areas of science, mathematics, humanities, and the arts. We offer very few classes for high school students as they typically don’t draw enough enrollment. Proceeds from registration fees are reinvested by the Foundation in Tigard Tualatin School District schools, for special projects, field trips, curriculum and other items that may not otherwise be possible.
Examples of classes popular in the past include: cake-baking/cooking; Super Science Fun! (DIY science experiments); Animation; Video Game Design; Minecraft; Lego Robotics; Digital Photography; and Self Defense for Girls. (Note: Trends and interests change among students and their parents so topics that have previously been popular may suddenly become unpopular, and vice versa.)
Fall 2018 classes will be held on Sunday afternoons from October 14 through November 18. Classes are 90 minutes from 2:00 to 3:30pm, though some topics may be more appropriate for an hour (2-3:00pm). The location is yet to be determined but will most likely be Hazelbrook Middle School in Tualatin.
The Foundation pays a stipend of $35 an hour for instruction time and reimburses for supply expenses when approved in advance.
The deadline to submit a proposal is July 13. You will be emailed no later than August 3 regarding acceptance of your proposal.
