In May we welcomed another business to Tualatin. Nothing Bundt Cakes co-owners Christie Burger and Michelle Roche held their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting at their Martinazzi Square location. Welcome!

With over 70 attendees cheering on, the Tualatin Chamber of Commerce Fit City and Regatta Run Committee presented the Scholarship check for $14,682.50 in honor of Corporal Matthew Lembke, to the Foundation for Tigard/Tualatin School. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers, sponsors and participants who helped to make this happen!

One of our Business Teams, WIN (Women in Networking) is a wonderful networking opportunity for women within the Tualatin area business community for networking and education by learning from each other and special guest speakers. We meet for this luncheon the third Thursday of every month. Join us!
The mission of this council shall be twofold: to educate our members on issues affecting their business;and to provide a basis for the chamber to act on local, regional and state-wide issues, thus creating a favorable and profitable business climate.
To identify, research, and recommend policy positions that provide for a positive business climate for our members;
Council Make-up:
The GAC will consist of no more than 20 chamber members in good standing.
Duties of the GAC Shall Include, but not be Limited to:
1. Studying and making recommendations about local, regional and state-wide issues that can affect member businesses. (Examples include: ballot measures, economic development, transportation, commuter connectivity and land-use);
2. Advocating on behalf of the membership;
3. Monitoring governmental regulations;
4. Hosting candidate debates and issue discussions during election periods.
Guiding Principles Adopted by the Chamber Board of Directors Pertinent to the GAC:
Role Description
Goal: To carry out the GAC’s mission, as established by the Board of Directors. The purpose of the GAC is to: identify and research business issues, take an active role advocating for business when necessary, recommend policy positions to the board, and educate our membership.
Commitments:
1. Serve for one year (January 1 – December 31), by appointment of the Board President;
2. Attend GAC meetings;
3. Attend regional meetings and legislative council meetings;
4. Attend a Tualatin city council meeting once or twice a year;
5. Meet with elected officials, ballot measure pro/opponents and other related activities as necessary.
Responsibilities:
1. Preside over GAC meetings;
2. Assist the executive director in developing the agenda for GAC meetings;
3. Develop/approve production timelines for specific events or activities as appropriate;
4. Coordinate with chamber staff to ensure good communication regarding roles and responsibilities;
5. Ensure that GAC members follow through with their individual tasks by the assigned deadlines.
Authority: Neither the chair nor council members shall have authority to make financial or other commitments on behalf of the chamber, verbally or in writing, without prior approval of the chamber staff.

We meet on the third Wednesday of every month, 9:30am - 11:00pm at Country Financial Insurance. Chamber members are invited to attend this lively group discussion on issues most important to area businesses.
